The host went above and beyond for us to make sure we had everything we needed and had a great experience. She provided great local recommendations tailored to our interests. The best part about staying at ‘The Old Brown Shoe’ is Colleen as the host. She went out of her way to help us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. She loaned us beach towels since we came in from TX. She lent us her drip coffee machine. She communicated with us openly throughout the stay and was available in person when we needed her. The space itself was great for our family. The three bedrooms in the back are separated by the kitchen - ideal for a family that wants littles to sleep while parents have some privacy. The main bedroom mattress was comfy, and I slept well all week. The bathroom had a tub, again perfect for little ones. There was a good space to wash clothes, and the kitchen and eating area were very functional. Contrary to the listing, there were AC units in all rooms. With a short walk to the beach, we found it was a great value and wonderful, memorable vacation. Thanks so much, Colleen!

This place is a gorgeous spot for a beachy vacation.
The apartment has an ideal location (across the street from a playground!) along a lake, 5-minute walk from the beach. The rooms are pleasant and bright, the kitchen is thoughtfully outfitted (we couldn’t find a can opener though, so bring your own) so we were able to cook meals comfortably.
The decor is a touch too fashionable to be 100% toddler proof but we just moved some more pointy or fragile furnishings to the side. It was very nice.
There’s only one A/C window unit for the living/dining/kitchen area so on very hot days you’d best go swimming to cool off! Thankfully the bedrooms all have units so it won’t interfere with sleep.

The Old Brown Shoe is a dream! The house is on the lake and only a block and a half away from the beach!! The reservation includes 2 beach badges so you are all set there too :-) It’s about a 15-20 minute walk to Asbury Park so there is plenty to do when staying here. The house itself is gorgeous and quite relaxing! Colleen provides you with everything you need for an excellent stay!! I highly recommend this place ❤️
