I love that you can walk just a few blocks and be anywhere you need to be! Whether it's two blocks to the beach or restaurants, or buying a quart of milk, getting the paper, going to the bank, post office or hardware store, everthing is so close! Best is walking into Asbury Park for the most exceptional musical and artistic culture you'll find anywhere. Asbury is the hipper, funkier, zanier cousin to Ocean Grove's Victorian, mom & pop, Americana, time stood still character. You've got the best of both worlds w/i blocks of each other when you stay at the Bed and Breakfast. You can arrive here directly via train or bus from NYC. Driving here is very straightforward and street parking is free.
I am Ocean Grove's last remaining multi-generational innkeeper. My great-grandmother bought our hotel in 1898 and I'm the fourth generation woman in our family to own and operate it. It's been a blessing and a privilege to do so. But now it is time to let the Bed and Breakfast re-invent itself as a group rental. I hope your family enjoys it as much as ours has! My own website lists all your vacation planning needs.

Our stay at the Central Ave House was everything we hoped for. The house has 150 years of history and the patina shows it. We had more than enough beds for the 17 people staying there. The place was very clean, accommodating, and very close to the ocean. Plus, the host was very kind and easy to communicate with by phone and email. We'll def stay here again.
Except for t storms today when we're leaving. ..lol...it was absolutely a delight
This house was a perfect fit for a large group of us coming to celebrate one of our girlfriends. We had friends coming from DC, NY, LA, etc., and Jennifer made the process incredibly easy for all of us. Asbury Park was also a lot of fun, with a ton of great food, - and of course, the beach! This house is only a few blocks away, and we could come and go as needed. It is not a super modern home, for those who may be looking for that type of stay, however, its character -and location - easily makes up for it. (And is often more appealing in my opinion!) The house was also very well stocked with supplies, beach chairs, etc.
Thanks for a great stay, Jennifer!
This house was perfect for my son's wedding. We had friends and family come from all over the country, and this huge and cozy house allowed us gathering and privacy all in one place. Close to beach, stocked with beach items (including beach passes), air conditioners in every room. Walking distance to everything we needed. Owner was close at hand if needed!!! Wonderful to work with and provided excellent information prior to our arrival regarding things to do - made planning so much easier. We all loved it!
We had a great week. It is an easy walk to the beach, boardwalk restaurants and quaint Main Street as well as the pavilion and Tabernacle. The 2 porches are wonderful. Our family of 23 enjoyed having 14 bedrooms and plenty of seating in the dining room. The house is very well-worn but it was clean and had everything we could want. The landlord was very considerate and made everything easy for us.
Ocean Grove is a favorite destination for our family but this time, we got to share it with lots of family and friends (20+ people). The house has plenty of rooms for everyone to spread out yet wonderful spaces to hang out together - mainly we used the two porches, which have very comfortable seating. The owner met us on arrival and provided plenty of assistance with places to go and things to do. She had starter supplies plus plenty of laundry supplies and extras like light bulbs, in case we needed them (which we did not). The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. There were plenty of beach towels (over 30 of them) as well as plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas, so you won't need to bring any of those. We enjoyed the beach each day, walked 2 blocks to get ice cream every night, and ate at the Starving Artist several mornings for breakfast. We enjoyed the Silverball pinball museum, Korean Fusion Tacos, and cocktails in Asbury Park - just a short walk away. Ocean Grove is a darling place to visit, and the Central Avenue House was a perfect home base for our large group.
We stayed at Jen's place for a family get together. There were over 20 of us and we had plenty of space. The dining room size and and set up was great because we all got to eat together. The house was close to the beach and Main Street shops. The two porches were lovely. Not having to bring any linens, towels or beach chairs was very convenient.
As soon as I arrived at the Central Ave house, I was greeted by Jennifer and was given a tour of the place. She gave me all the information I needed about the house, parking, the beach and places to eat/shop. It was not difficult to contact her if I needed anything during my stay. She was also very generous and understanding about having 20+ people at her house for the weekend! I highly recommend staying here if you are looking to visit Ocean Grove or Asbury Park, especially if you don't mind the two minute walk to the beach
