#695. relaxing week at the beach

we loved our time in ocean grove. the house was perfectly situated - both in proximity to the beach, main street and even asbury park. there is so much to do in the area and you don't need a car at all (except if you want to go to the grocery store!) there is lots to do on the boardwalk - biking , scooter rides, mini golf, shopping and more.... the house is 2 blocks from main street in ocean grove, so its nice to have a central area to call home. the house is lovely, enough bedrooms for everyone and has a full kitchen, lots of seating indoors and out and a new outdoor dining space right off the kitchen which is great for those nights you want to eat outside. plenty of chairs and umbrellas which are a must at the beach! terry was very receptive whenever we had a question. I would def recommend this house to anyone traveling with family and/or friends who want to have a quick get away. Only recommendation would be to provide an outside house on the side of the house to wash your sandy feet when you get back from the beach! we will definitely be back again soon

#696. Fun in the sun

Great location/ lots of restaurants between Ocean Grove and Asbury within walking distance/ 1 block to the beach. Big house - lots of space to relax and plenty of space to sleep/ and clean. Easy to contact property owner as needed. Would highly recommend.

#740. Great location! Large home...

For a family of older kids the house would be ok, but we had toddlers/smaller children. The house is cluttered with decorations that all had to be moved to safe places when we got there and then replaced when we left. There's too much furniture for the amount of floor space. A corner of the dining area had a cart of open liquor as well as baskets in a coffee table, all that had to be barricaded. Pictures of the finished basement make it look like it can be used, but it's very musty. We should have looked at all the bed sizes more closely.

#741. Unpleasant stay

Unfortunately we had a very bad experience, worsened by a highly argumentative property owner - Terry. No issues were resolved and she seemed to be more interested in making excuses or blaming our group instead of helping resolve issues. Specifically: VRBO listing is inaccurate as the property only has 4 bedrooms, not 5 bedrooms as listed, so renter beware of limited space expectations and rental over-priced as a 5 bedroom rate. The 1st floor air conditioning is ineffective, leaving the kitchen / dining area and 1st floor bedroom unusable on warm days, and family room where the AC unit is located cooling only to 80 degrees. The AC issues also reduce use of the 1st floor bedroom, further limiting marketed occupancy. The basement was very musty and we suspect mold given some illness and allergic reactions by guests. The basement also flooded during a storm adding to the musty conditions and making it difficult to get to the washer / dryer. We did rent the unit sight unseen given covid and previous good experiences with VRBO listings, so very disappointed overall in this experience and property owner.

Absolutely amazing and perfect place for a family vacation. Terry, the owner, was extremely nice and communicative. Very clean place and super convenient, especially proximity to the beach! Would definitely rent again!!!!!!!!!!

#701. Great Girls Weekend

We were a group of 10 28-30 year olds having a girls weekend.

The location: excellent, just a few houses from the beach and a quick walk or Uber ride to Asbury for dinner and drinks.

The house: the two porches were amazing. The kitchen is spacious and lovely, well equipped with cookware and appliances. A lovely bonus was the CD cabinet and player that held an epic collection of throwback CDs. The master bedroom and porch are a divine little oasis.

The bunk bed room was very accomodating for our large group.

There were beach chairs available for our use, 4 beach passes, and a cooler.

We had a few late nights and no problem from the neighbors.

Parking was doable!

Would stay again!

#702. Great location

We had a great time in Ocean Grove! This house is in a great location, close proximity to beach and town. Terry was very responsive and accommodating. House is great for a large group, our favorite part was the large porch where we spent many hours. Only negative is the house is a bit cluttered with many personal items and lots of extra furniture so it felt a bit crowded at times. Overall worth it for a large, laid back group.

#703. Family Reunion

Terry is one of the few property hosts in Ocean Grove that support family reunions that are larger than 6-8 people. We stayed at the property for 10 days, and family members, many of whom live in the tri-state area, were able to join us for BBQs, days at the beach, and evenings on the lovely porches . Some nights, we were at full capacity for overnight guests, all of whom were accommodated comfortably in the large house. The family had a wonderful time and many expressed how precious and priceless these moments are! Thanks, Terry, for opening your home to our family!
